In the summer of 2025, Pyynikki Summer Theatre will stage The Unknown Soldier by Väinö Linna. This Finnish national literary masterpiece will premiere on June 11, 2025, as part of the theatre’s 70th anniversary celebration.

The play will be performed in Finnish. However, don’t be discouraged from attending a performance at the theatre due to the language barrier – theatre is a universal language after all, and watching a show at Pyynikki Summer Theatre is guaranteed to be a memorable experience.

The Unknown Soldier is a visually and narratively powerful experience, but also a deeply moving declaration of peace in the face of the senselessness of war. At the same time, it serves as a farewell to the last surviving war veterans.
